Gee, do I dare use a $100 off coupon three consecutive weeks?
Got this a few weeks ago from BB for $430 after MIR ($120). Unfortunately out of PM period, and too lazy to return/rebuy. But this is a good deal. I'm happy with the laptop so far, I don't run games but haven't had any speed issues. It's great for a cheap but capable 14-incher. It even has built-in bluetooth, which can be hard to come by on laptops still at this price.
will it be online or in store only? thanks in advance.
Purchased the OD version of this notebook, smaller HD but with a built in web cam. I have been very pleased with the machine. Feels nice and solid for a budget laptop. I personally favor the 14 inch for my use.
For $399 plus tax out the door it is hard to beat. If you can do the $100 off with the Comcast sign up I would consider it to be smokin'!

Looks like the Staples and OD versions are identical.
160 vs 120Gb hard drive and no webcam for the Best Buy version. Unless you feel like you just have to have a web cam save the $50 and go with the Best Buy model. Do the $100 off for signing up for Comcast and it will be $299 plus tax out the door. No brainer for the Best Buy version in that case.
Thanks for posting. I have some rewards checks to use so this will be a great way to use them even though BB is cheaper.

do you sign up for the internet discount in the store or online beforehand. i never realized that it was a freebie $100 discount.
I signed up online... I did comcast self-install with own my own modem. I am doubtful that I will even receive a call from comcast or anybody asking me to sign up for service.

Any after market batteries available with more cells/hours??
Looks like a great deal but the Battery life is a little concerning
I looked at the EX4420 for a long time when the local OD had them on sale in July. I finally settled on the Acer EX5620 instead, mainly because I wanted a 15.4" screen. My middle-aged eyes find the larger screen is better.
But EX4420 really is a solid budget lappy. The keyboard is good, the 14" screen is sharp, and the overall form factor is really attractive, especially if I had to lug it around all day. I know I would prefer the EX4420 over the EX5620.
The only negative I've heard about this model is the cooling fan tends to cycle on and off a lot. That annoys some folks. It may be the same issue on my EX5620, but I don't even notice it.

Check eBay. You can order them direct from China.
One of the reviewers on BB said that he was getting 2-3 hours.
That isn't horrible battery life, it just isn't great battery life.
Trust me, I bought a Sony laptop once that couldn't maintain more than 1 hour per battery charge.
THAT is shitty battery life.
Anything over 2 hours is 'acceptable' in my book, especially for a budget laptop.
