I use Tenergy brand and like them. If their Tenergy R2U specs are accurate, they shoud be just as good as Eneloop yet much cheaper.

Oh yeah free small charger. If it's a fast charger, don't use it. Fast chargers heat up batteries and kill them before their time to go.

You might want to put "rechargeable" in the title.

any else had experience with this and can share your comment?

Just a note, I purchased All-Battery's Tenergy branded 9 volt batteries and Tenergy charger and have had a 50% failure rate in 12 months on the batteries (they expand and bust open while charging). The fan in the chager has also gotten very noisy with very light use (I mostly use other chargers). Others on Fatwallet have had similiar issues with their batteries. They are certainly in my expeerience not as good as eneloops. They may be fine for some and even with a high failure rate you may come out a head but honestly I would look for deals on Eneloops, Duracell based eneloops or Rayovac Hybrids. Also these deals happen nearly continously on their site so don't feel pressured to rush to use this code. I will also note that All-Battery.com pays for reviews so you will find glowing reviews all over the place (look at their forums for more details on their pay for review program). In fact OP may him/herself be particpating in said program.

I bought a few dozen of NiMH AA and AAA batteries for my kids' toys. They work ok, but the Tenergy "smart" charger is worthless. It often leaves the batteries not fully charged, even with the full discharge option. I use Energizer charger most of the times to recharge them.

i agree with this poster. the batteries from tenergy work great for me, but haven't had good luck with their charger. i just use the tenergy batteries in a duracell charger.

If you want a solution with proven reliability, battery life, and safety, get yourself some Eneloops and a La Crosse charger.

Rayovac Hybrids are a nice alternative, but IMO Sanyo makes the best NiMH batteries on the market.

I totally agree with this fellow. Tenergy has low quality rechargable batteries and pay for reviewing. I bought its batteries and found out they are low quality.

It is a shame that reviews are biased via the gift certificate. I'm not using that with this post, and you can check their forum to see that this post isn't mentioned for the discount. I've purchased from them at least three times, and I've always received my order correctly and promptly. I've had great success with their AAA and AA batteries with no failures (over a dozen each), but I bought a fairly good charger to go with them. Maybe I've been lucky. I haven't put that many cycles on them, but several of the batteries are over 2 years old now. From what I've read, that free charger isn't very good. Decent ones can be purchased for ~$15 stand alone.

I should note that this concerns their normal batteries, as I don't have any experience with their slow discharge batteries.

High failure rate. Don't buy again.

I bought around 24(?) Tenergy batteries and 24 eneloops. A lot of Tenergy batteries failed already (less than 8 months), but all eneloops are still working great.

I use rechargeables a LOT. I actually have tenergy ones as well as rechargeable duracells, but don't know much about this stuff. And, my batteries are definitely not memoryless... they drain so fast when not in use. I could charge my whole lot of 30-40 batteries, and after a month or two they are way discharged.
So which rechargeable batteries are RECOMMENDED? Eneloops and Rayovac, or do I just have to see if it's "eneloop based" or "hybrid based"?
Which recharger is good that isn't too expensive? I'd like to charge at least 4 AA/AAA at a time.

Danger Danger Will Robinson

AVOID THE BATTERIES AT ANY COST

BEEN THERE DONE THAT

Fatwallet money down the drain

Just my opinion

Edit to add. About the guy who bought a "good charger"---wanting to make sure that I did everything right, I also bought the charger that they (company that sold me the batteries)recommended for these batteries, which itself was fairly expensive. Any questions about my post, please go back and read the 1st 2 lines

In all fairness, I must say even though the batteries SUCK, the charger that they sold me at a high price works GREAT.....on other types of rechargeables

Edit again...This is the charger I was recommended to buy and bought for these batteries

And to add...this is the email I sent to them regarding a refund

MessageType: Product

Subject: Products

Comments: I bought the 20 Pcs of AA 2600 mAh High Capacity NiMH Rechargeable Batteries and the AAA same batteries.....THESE BATTERIES SUCK. No other word for them. They last about a week in my TV remote, and Im lucky if I get 20 pictues out of them in my Digital Camera. I fully expect that you will do NOTHING about this. A company that sells CRAP like this and doesnt stand behind it.!!!!!!

And this is what she said in return

William,

Please cycle (charge & drain) your batteries 3-5 times before first time use.

I am not fan of them but a "strong" worded first e-mail may not be the best way to get your refund.

I've had these for 6 or so months - I think I have 12 or 16 AA. I haven't had any problems at all. Use them in game controllers, camera flashes and various other devices.

Sorry about that. I may have gotten a particularly good batch. I did get what was apparently the only working CRW-1622 CD-RW drive Memorex produced. It looks like it's luck of the draw, and I'm going to pull any endorsement of their products since so many other people have had problems. The charger I bought was the T-2299 if anyone cares. It appears to do a good job.

I agree 100%....I was just so frustrated after spending all that money and still ending up with garbage

I'm surprised they even responded to your original email at all... Try a little tact in the future, it works wonders!

As far as the batteries go, all I can say is eneloops have earned their reputation for a reason and while I'm not averse to trying new products, the experiences I'm hearing about in this thread steer me away from these particular batteries.

I've never used eneloops, but I've used Sanyo standard NiMH, with a Sanyo charger, and they lose their charge completely within one week. Given that experience, I'm not in a hurry to try another Sanyo battery product.
